JACKNEY PRIOLY

MASTER’S PUBLIC ADMNISTRATION

Jackney Prioly

Jackney Prioly knows a thing or two when it comes to public policy and the inner workings of government. She gained experience in city hall by working in the trenches alongside one of Boston’s longest-serving mayors, and then by joining forces with one of the city’s up-and-coming council members, someone whom she admired even before starting her career. And she accomplished all this while earning her master’s degree from Northeastern University.

Now that she’s graduated, Prioly is applying what she’s learned, both from the classroom and from city hall, to her new career. Prioly is the director of an educational program that helps kids from middle school to high school prepare for college and career.

As director, Prioly is constantly on the go, meeting with high-ranking community members, administering her organization’s website, fundraising, blogging, producing podcasts and also serving as a link between the often convoluted educational system and parents.

But for her, it’s all worth it. She learned to successfully juggle a variety of projects when she simultaneously held jobs and attended classes as a working student at Northeastern University.

“One thing for me is, I love a challenge. I found a lot of what we talked about in the classroom, the classes, the teachers, they prepared me for the work I’m doing,” she said. “If you want something that’s applicable, not just theory, and to learn from professors in the field — in politics or government — and to apply learning to the job you are in, then you’ll find that at Northeastern.”

The Northeastern Advantage

Northeastern University is grounded in an innovative idea — that education is about is engaging with the world to solve problems and lead change.

This idea is something we put in motion on a daily basis. We’ve established working relationships in Boston, in hundreds of communities in the United States and in more than 90 countries around the world, including with 3,000+ organizations in business and finance, healthcare and law, education and research, and community service and government.

These highly specialized partnerships are the backbone of an education grounded in experiential learning. Experiential learning transforms “global” and “innovative” from concepts to actions, makes our students and our degree programs more interactive, and invigorates an approach to research that translates knowledge into solutions.

In today’s rapidly changing economic landscape, Northeastern offers flexible, challenging degree programs that connect students with emerging fields, make them problem solvers in the global economy, and prepare them for a lifetime of learning — in Boston, Charlotte, Seattle, Silicon Valley and beyond.
